This is the last week postponed maintenance work from Data Network group. Maintenance job will carry out at our main Cisco switch in B block, Cumberland campus. Therefore, following services will not be available between 6:00pm to 10:00pm, 24-Jul-03

1. Student Administration System (Speedo, SAS, etc.) and related services
2. Email and directory services
3. Web services
4. File sharing and file servers access services
5. Access Lab and students shared drives on Extro

Status Update - Communication Failure at Cumberland Campus

Communication link is now restored. The problem is due to faulty hardware. This hardware was replaced by ATI and now all data network communication are now normalised.

Change of domain name from cchs to fhs

Date : 1 May 2003

Dear All Staff,

Since our campus name was changed from CCHS (Cumberland College of Health Science) to FHS (Faculty of Health Science) our computer system, such as web pages and email addresses, have to change accordingly. These changes are being made gradually since November 2001. Now it is a time to remind all of you that:

1. If your email is still set as youremail@cchs.usyd.edu.au, change it to youremail@fhs.usyd.edu.au. You can make the change yourself using your email software program. If you are using Eudora - our standard email program - you will find easy to follow instructions at http://www3.fhs.usyd.edu.au/itsd/eudora_config.htm. If you require any assistance, please mail us at pc-support@fhs.usyd.edu.au
2. From Friday 2nd of May 2003 onward, only the staff using youremail@fhs.usyd.edu.au can send mail to allstaff list, so please ensure that your email software is properly setup.
3. If you have any web pages or web sites that contain cchs as part of the reference, especially in web address and server/computer name, you must change them into fhs as well. If you need assistantce, please contact your web/IT support person. For further help contact pc-support staff.
4. Please ensure that you communicate these changes to allstaff in your department.

Starting Monday the 5th of May, 2003 all visitors to sites starting with www.cchs will be redirected to a page informing them of the change and redirecting them to appropriate School or Centre. These pages will be active untill 31st May 2003, when automatic redirection will stop and force visitors to change their bookmarks.

If you are the manager of your school/unit web sites, we would like to recommend to put up similar announcement page. If you have any problems, please contact us at web-admin@fhsusyd.edu.au for more details.

Starting 31st June 2003 onward, all incoming emails with cchs address will be bounced back to sender with a notice reminding them to change address to fhs.This service will be removed from our system on 31st December 2003. After that date, university system will not recognise names other then fhs. Please make sure you have made all required changes before the deadline.

We thank to all who put effort to make all these changes since November 2001 until now and future.

Planned Service Interruption for Email Server Maintenance

Date : 10 April 2003

Dear All,

We have been experiencing email service interruptions during yesterday (9 April) evening and today (10 April) morning. Now email service is back online but we still need to fix the problem to prevent further damage. Therefore, we plan to start maintenance job tomorrow (11 April) at 12:00 noon. This task will take about 1 hour or less. During this time following service will not be available.

Service Outage Alert

Impact:
Email (Eudora, etc.access to fhs emails)

Description:
Due to some problem with our email server, ITSD scheduled a service maintenance in order to rectify it. All email addresses @fhs.usyd.edu.au will be affected.

Solution:
ITSD will restore service by recovering email processes on fhs email server.

ITSD services interruption notice

Date : 5-Mar-03

Dear All,

ITSD office will be relocated to B block top floor from Friday (7-Mar-03) evening until Monday (10-Mar-03). This move impacts to all ITSD office staffs and ITSD phone extensions. Our phone extensions remain unchanged. Our new office location is as below

B105 - PC support, Datacenter and Network support, Web support
B109 - Lab support
A111 - Student Administration System software development (Graeme Martin)
B107 - Access Lab (64 seat room)
B112 - Teaching Lab 1 (20 seat room)
B113 - Teaching Lab 2 (10 seat room)
R003 - Teaching Lab 3 (30 seat room)

During this relocation period, you may experience difficulties reaching ITSD staff by phone as well as possible delay in response to your requests. We recommend to contact us by email - pc-support@fhs.usyd.edu.au

EFPOS machine for extro account top up money will available only for very limited hours due to phone re-cabling. Location of EFPOS service will be posted on notice board at S209 entrance.

All services will be normalized by 10-Mar-03 evening at B block new office.

Dear All,

ITSD is moving its servers to new location in B building top floor as part of the space review project. All our servers will be relocated in batches to a new datacenter. During this transition time, there will be a few service interruptions for each service up to 4 hours. Below is the schedule for each service and planned interruption.

For webmasters, web administrator or content update personal, we recommend not making any changes unless it is really necessary on these servers during 17-Feb to 28-Feb. And we recommend you to backup your importance data from these servers.
