Peer Tutoring
Peer tutors are students who have done well in certain subjects and who now wish to assist other students who are having difficulty with topics in those subjects. Students can target specific problem areas with the assistance of somebody who has successfully handled the problem themselves. They also benefit from receiving individual attention.

Past peer tutors have said they too benefit from the experience. As well as refining their communication skills, they say they've clarified their understanding of the topics they are asked to cover.

Peer Tutoring Register
Once you are registered with Student Welfare Services, students who require tutorial assistance will get in touch with you.

If you wish to remain on the register, you must re-register with SWS each academic year.

Information for students who wish to register as peer tutors:

  • Qualifications
    • enrolled on this campus
    • Year 2 or above
    • credit record or higher in subjects offered (copy of results slip required)
    • interest in teaching others
    • good cross-cultural communication skills
  • Subjects in demand
    • Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry
    • Biomedical Sciences subjects
    • Behavioural Sciences subjects
  • Pay rates and tuition hours are negotiated between tutor and student. SWS suggests $15 - $20 per hour.

You can come to Reception at SWS and complete a registration form or download the registration form (PDF) and return it to SWS.
