Preliminary Instructions

Welcome to the Protein Synthesis program on the world wide web. The Protein Synthesis program is divided into 4 sections as indicated by the buttons above; namely - Introduction, Transcription, Translation and Mutation. It is suggested that you attempt using this program in the above order from left to right.

1. The web pages that follow have Macromedia® Shockwave® movies embedded in them. If you have any problems viewing these movies, make sure that -
  a) You have the Macromedia Shockwave™ player installed on your computer. The latest   version of the player can be obtained from the Macromedia® web site by clicking on this link - Macromedia Shockwave™ download site.

  b) Your browser version should be either Netscape Navigator 4+ or   Microsoft Internet   Explorer 4+.

  c) Try reloading the page (View > Reload or Refresh).

2. Depending on the speed of your modem connection there will a delay of 2 to 10 min before you see the shockwave movie. Please read the information on the page while waiting for the movie to download to your computer. When you hear the music playing you are ready to interact with content in the shockwave movie.
3. If you are using a 14 inch monitor it is best to maximize the window size of your browser window so that it fills the entire screen. Also you can further increase the viewing area of your browser window (see figure on the right below) by clicking on the tabs of your browser window as shown in the figure on the left.

For Netscape :

For Microsoft Internet Explorer :

Go to View of the menu bar at the top the browser window and uncheck button bar, Address bar and Status bar.
