What to do if you have a problem
If your problem relates to the timetable:
- You should only use the unit of study timetable supplied by the Discipline of Biomedical Science to determine when and where classes are to be held. Classes may not be held every week.
- Remember to check the room in which classes are being held. Lectures may be held in different rooms on different days, although the room should remain the same for a given timeslot across the semester.
Essential Requirement for Laboratory Classes:
- It is an essential requirement that you are familiar with the gown and glove policy that operates in the Anatomy and Microbiology Laboratories.
If you can't find a practical class:
- Remember that all anatomy practicals involving wet specimens are held in the Anatomy Labs (L107), some anatomy practicals involving plastic models are held in the Physiology & Microbiology Labs (please check the timetables displayed outside room L213 and labs L215, L217 for the exact location).
- Locations for other practicals and tutorials may change from day to day. Check the timetables displayed outside room L213 and labs L215, L217 and H204.
- Finding your way around
If your problem relates to the material you are studying:
- See the lecturer who presented the material.
- If you are concerned with your performance in assessments, you should see the unit of study coordinator.
If your problem relates to general issues regarding the subject you are studying:
- See the unit of study coordinator
- If you fail a mid semester assessment, you must see the unit of study coordinator
Unit of Study Manuals:
These are sold by the University. In the first week of each semester, they are available in the lobby of 'Building E'. Thereafter, they must be paid for at the cashiers office, which is located at the top of the first flight of steps in the Administration Building. Present the receipt at the "Printery" in the lower ground floor of R-Block (near lecture theatre R027) to collect your manuals. Remember to keep the receipt as it is needed to collect manuals in other Disciplines.
Examinations:
- You are responsible for finding out where and when examinations are scheduled
- You must attend all examinations
- If you miss an examination for any reason, you must complete the appropriate form and lodge it, with appropriate documentation explaining your absence, with "Student Central" as soon as possible, and within 7 days of the examination date
- You must make every effort to attend an examination
- Deferred assessments are a privilege granted in some circumstances and only once. If you miss your deferred assessment, another assessment may not be granted.
- It is your responsibility to ascertain the time and date of deferred assessments. They will be held in the intersemester breaks. You must attend at the specified time.
- Preparing for exams in Biomedical Science - a PowerPoint show prepared by Dr. Meg Stuart.
