Mohammad is a PhD student jointly supervised by Dr Fazlul Huq and Dr Beale.

Mohammad is investigating new tumour-active metal complexes. Currently he is working with a number of trinuclear palladium complexes.

Objectives

  • To synthesize multicentred palladium compounds containing planar amine ligands.
  • To determine the activity against cancer cell lines
  • To quantify the nature of interaction with DNA and its constituents

Mohammad's research has resulted in the following publications:

Publications

  1. F Huq, M Farhad, A Abdullah, P Beale and M Zhang (2004) Studies on oligonuclear palladium complexes. European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. Submitted
  2. M Farhad, F Huq, and P Beale (2003) Studies on trinuclear palladium complexes (anticancer active). Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry 96:129
  3. P Beale, F Huq and M Farhad (2002) Studies on polynuclear palladium complexes.Third Research Conference 2002, "From Cell to Society 3", Leura (18-19 September, 2002). Organized by the College of Health Sciences, The University of Sydney.
