Mr Darren Reed is a physiotherapist who teaches musculoskeletal anatomy to undergraduate physiotherapy, exercise science and occupational therapy students. Darren is enrolled in a Doctorate of Philosophy, using electromyography (EMG) to research the recruitment patterns and activity levels of shoulder muscles during rehabilitation exercises. This is part of the multidisciplinary Shoulder Research Group which has a well established electromyography research laboratory within the discipline. The ultimate aim of this research is to develop rehabilitation and exercise programs to more effectively treat and/or prevent shoulder dysfunction. A special interest of Darren’s is developing physiotherapy training in third world countries. He has been involved in establishing the only physiotherapy school in Nepal and training physiotherapists in India and Iraq.
